Doctor, Doctor

Contributed by norm on Friday, 26th September 2003 @ 12:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I took me to the doctor's because of ringing in my ears,
Tinitis is the kind of thing that really interferes
The sound of bells and whistles are probably out of range,
A female voice from England sounds vedy, vedy strange.

I said to him, "Dear doctor, will you tell me right up front.
Is there any way to cure me or will my hearing always want?"
The doctor hummed and hawed and then he looked me in the eyes,
"I can fix you without question and I'll tell you no more lies."

He sent me to a tech, an audiologist they're called,
The way the woman treated me I could have sat and bawled,
She took my head and swung it like it was a rubber ball,
"No", she said,"There's nothing wrong as long as you don't fall"

He sent me to another tech, otologist was the name,
Who asked about my parents, said my father was to blame.
Your father's genes were PDQ and your's are EFG,
When I left this oto guy, confused, I was, you see.

While all these tests were going on, my ringing never stopped,
If anything the ringing was like a balloon nearby had popped,
And the air went rushing by my head and swooshed into my ear,
I'm sure the only cure for me was stick my head in beer.

I went back to the first jabib and asked him what he thought,
He said I had the worst ear case that he had ever fought.
He said he'd keep athinking and I guess he's thinking still
He gave his nurse a nod of head, she handed me the bill.

You may wonder if it helped with all the tests that I had had,
You may wonder,..if indeed, it was that I was going mad,
The fact is, that there was a change when all was done and said,
The ringing lessened just like that but now I'm seeing 'red'.

the bill alone i am sure
was enough for a cure
to the ringing in your ears
now your heart is filled with too much fear

they seem to always think
and try every test but the kitchen sink
still no relief is in sight
Oh what a plight

Good write
Shari

Shucks Durn Norm,
you have ringing in your head
and no boxer were you fed.
i'm so sorry to hear of your ill head....
but am glad it's nothing that will
cause you to be dead!
what would we ever do with out our favorite Norm.
YPDC would be completely out of form.
I loved you poem, and remember

Get a nice little windchime, Norm and put it in your home.
Then when you hear bells, you won't answer the phone!*smile*

Norm,

We can't blame you for the blame
Worldwide doctors are all the same
Ten thousands miles I am from you
But same procedures we go through...

My ears or eyes, no problem there
But inside my mouth a science fair
Five years of braces, God show mercy
Give me a reason to say "merci".

Even now my braces removed
Dentist said my teeth have grooved
Seems they are widening once more
Are they breaking an International score?

I might have to put the railway again
Five years of braces, not a single gain
I felt special when dentist once said
"Your case is a one in a million"
But I'd rather be a millionth instead.
