September Came

Contributed by MoonlitAngel on Friday, 26th September 2003 @ 03:45:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

September came
Opened my eyes to the light in the dark
Brought me love when I most needed a spark
So many nights we left real life behind
So much I never expected to find

October fell
Sweet lover always walking beside me
Faced head on with the darkest parts of me
So deep in something I'd only glimpsed before
Didn't need anything else anymore

November arrived
Took my love away, tore me up inside
But didn't leave me alone on the outside
Let it go and put it all on the line
But in my mind you were on the sidelines

December came
Constantly the object of attention
Always vying to win my affection
Everyone knew we were up to something
But couldn't bring myself to want everything

January fell
Found myself free to see this thing through
Starting to realize what I had in you
I wanted to be part of your design
Finally found the strength to make you mine

February arrived
Every single day spent by your side
And every night you made me scream and sigh
Always doing nothing yet up to no good
I saw some things I never thought I would

March came
Still always doing the same old things
Drinking, watching the fire popping and blazing
Struggling just to get by in this life
Dreams of someday being husband and wife

April fell
Eighteen now and feeling all grown up
A little scared of where we might end up
'Cause I helped you pack your things - again
Too much to possibly comprehend

May arrived
So alone and missing you like crazy
Everything faded, the whole world went hazy
Talking on the phone every now and then
Feeling more and more at my wit's end

June came
Graduated and feeling so free
Summer memories sobering me
But you by my side just as I'd hoped for
Impending doom impossible to ignore

July fell
Took some time away from this washed-up life
Stunning sunsets and the endless starlight
Things weren't turning out how I'd expected
Alone again and so disconnected

August arrived
Plans breaking down and so much frustration
All the neverending complications
All packed up and more than ready to go
Nothing I could do but sit and wait to know

September came again
Can't believe how fast the time's gone by
Yet every day just drags so slowly by
But the cold autumn air always reminds me
Of all those nights and how it used to be
Never would've thought I'd wind up here
Your face used to always be so unclear
And now I'm planning to make my home with you
Forever I will always love you
