All you are is trapped in four corners,
Nothing to think about,
But the past that still haunts you.
It's hard for you to look ahead,
When the past is so unyeilding,
And so undead.
Trapped is the name of the game,
You're disturbed by it,
That you feel nothing but shame,
And you can't run from it.
You feel ashamed,
Because you regret so much,
That you wish it all could just change.
You're stuck in the past,
And for you it won't die,
You keep waiting to hear it's death march,
But you know that it's all a lie.
It won't escape you,
It's trying to erase you,
It's trying to lure you,
And burn you.
It wants to feel your end,
It wants you to go insane,
And for you to break and bend.
It follows you around like an annoying fly,
You swat it down,
But it comes back to life,
Like it never had died.
You finally realize to let the past be the past,
You can never go back and change it,
You have to see the light at last.
Let bygones be bygones,
Let the regrets be your last,
And start a new life at each waking dawn,
So your soul can finally rest.
You have to realize that you are more than your past.
Your future is waiting,
Though what you've left behind you,
Will always last.
You can't erase time,
So you might as well not even try,
Realize what you have now,
And don't let it die.
Be happy with who the past made you,
A stronger individual today,
And realize what the past gave you,
A brighter tomorrow than yesterday.

Great poem about your past...your not alone! I can't escape mine either. But it is so good that you can start to leave it behind...and you are so right about the past makes you who you are now. All the best.
Emma.
