What is life, what is our role
Upon this earth what purpose have we ?
Many paths can a journey take
Not knowing, uncertain we tread
Waiting for the light to lead the way.
In shadows we search for our fate
Sometimes we stumble and fall
Hesitating, unsure how to proceed
Do we stay in the safety of where we stand
or move forward into the unknown?
If we call out no-one will hear
There are many answers to the questions we ask
Uneasy we stop , turn and look back
Everything that has gone before laid out in front of our eyes
Little boxes of the past where we no longer need to look
Hope and fear shout to us with equal voice
Stretch out their hands to us, beckon us close
Each step leaves new footprints on the virgin ground
We cannot turn around , we must walk on
Deeper into the dark
Eyes searching for what we cannot hope to see
Time at our shoulder hurries us on
Destiny waits, his secrets to reveal
When the journey ends we cannot hope to know
We travel on , it is our quest
Always to the light...............always.........to the light.
