How to Beat Down Children

Contributed by norm on Wednesday, 24th September 2003 @ 12:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

The most dangerous words used by folks
Are 'WHY' and "WHERE" to place on yokes.
These yokes ensnare the spirit high,
Are oftimes used 'gainst you or I.

Let me explain what I'm about
So that there remains not any doubt,
When you say, "Why", it's always late
About an act that smacks of fate.

You say to me, "Where were you, Monday?"
I say to you, "Where was I, Sunday?"
For after all, the deed is done,
Forget it all and have some fun.

The "Whys" and "Where's" are used by parents
Against their kids to create some warrants,
Parents think they've done their best
There's no way that they can attest.

You must have trust and love your kids
And hope to God that they've made bids
Like investments that we've had,
Many are good but some are bad.

No sense at all to use 'WHY or WHERE'
It only angers and doesn't share,
What should be done, resolve the rift
T'wixt you and them, have spirits lift.

Think about what I have said
It fits us all, don't shake your head,
You could be guilty like any other
You probably are, my sister, brother...

What you say makes lots of sense
We do our best as parents
Then send our children on their way
And hope they do their best come what may

You seem to have forgotten,
What???and WHEN???
Knowing full well,
they'll do it again.
So all we can do is grant them
some love...
And know they are watched...
from eyes up above. 0:-)
Angel always...godspeed...joni

KNow matter what we as parents do
our children have to make
their own mistakes just as we did
and our parents as well
GREAT POEM
