Grief
|
She sat at the curb rocking,
missing the touch, tastes, smells
of earth she left behind.
Night held her
in its cradle, safe
from the eyes
of the world;
she cried.
Relieved from words
to the people that loved her,
no chance to confess
mistakes she made.
Deep in the night,
the dark as a shield,
she waited; then watched
as they carried her body away.
Late last night
a young girl fell asleep
at the wheel........ Crow
[things I see in the dead of night]
Please, be aware, buckle-up,
and do not drink and drive....

If you could stop, there is no doubt,
The carnage that you see about,
The horror of the roadway smash
sometimes caused by dope or hash
You'd do it Crow, that I know.
The girl's asleep, her soul to keep

Sad is the song that ends young, sadder is the song, that should not have ended. Good write.

My poem"the phonecall" was written to show the pain a drunk driver can cause.Please take care..I know you carry these burdens of the night with you... |

Such an emotional write, beautifully written. I have been in a few car accidents myself, where I wasn't the driver and I have seen and felt things myself, so I can understand the message of this poem. It's a tragic loss. All the best. Take care.

It's so sad to see the affects of alcohol and what its abuse does.And even the none drinkers are affected by alcohol.
This is a lovely write with a much needed message. I only wish the old adage live and learn sunk into peoples heads!
Well spoken,crow! :'(''''''''''' {{{crow}}}

this is so sad and so real - you are a special person to be able to do what you do - just to be there - even when there is nothing you can do - it must be terrible for you.
And thanks for reminding all of us to buckle up and drive safe.
