From My Sleep

I took a peek this morning
from the dark cave of loneliness;
my eyes hurting from your smiles.
I didn't think I could come to you
without an offering.
But my heart warmed
with a "wonderful fall"
from a friend
a fall that would catch
in your arms, your hearts
to bring light into darkness.
It is only my dark spirit
that betrays enlightenment;
pulling me from you
to bask in the lone walk
beneath rhyme and words,
stalking my existence.
But you deserve more;
my love
that yearns to break
into the day
from dark obscurity
into the arms that wonderfully
catch me
from my falling sleep.
