ANTI-ANTI-SMOKER

Contributed by Cancer on Sunday, 21st September 2003 @ 01:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

hark! can you hear the marching
of morons called to war
each day there are more footsteps
than there were the day before
New Age Nazis who impose their laws
on little people like you and me
they say our smoking kills, while you and i choke
on restrictions in the "land of the free"
"raise their taxes, they'll still pay
going broke to feed their addictions"
while your wallets grow fat, your back gets a pat
for standing up for your bull***** convictions
"non-smokers have rights" is their battle cry
but smokers have none, and they won't tell us why

cars give off pollution
that depletes the ozone
but your fat a** won't walk to the store
that's two blocks from your home
car wrecks kill thousands of people each year
yet, no anti-car battle cry will you hear
what's with the hypocrisy
where is the consistency
buried 'neath your "morality"
make a buck off a feared fatality

i smoke two packs of menthols every day
you better pray lung cancer takes me away
before i save enough money to pay for that AK
go to "smoke-free" Wal-Mart, and just let it spray
bullets are flying, faces disappear
meet the monster you've made and tremble with fear
a disgruntled smoker, with a gun full of lead
come to change your mind or blow off your head
if i didn't smoke, you'd already be dead
i'd have repainted the world a bright bloody red
my cigarettes keep that stress in check, instead
prices keep going up, sanity hangs from a thread

prohibition didn't last
and neither will this
but just keep on smiling
in your self-righteous bliss
keep on screwing the smokers
we're rabid dogs one and all
kick us out of your restaurants
hotels and malls
make it illegal to smoke everywhere
we're gonna keep smoking, we really don't care
but, be careful, your laws might get you busted instead
for that big smoking hole that i'll put in your head

I have to say...I loved this!!!! I "know" smoking is bad for me....I am an adult and can make my own choices. I just wonder what "they" intend to do with all of the people who work in the tobacco industry......( if the banned smoking) I know there is not enough welfare left for all of them. I say you live your life,I'll live mine.
I do ask people if they mind if I smoke...I do have manners.
great write,
Sharon;)

Don't really know what to say about this. I don't smoke ne more, but when I did they helped keep me sane to some extent I guess. Good rant in any case.

Excellent. Though I don't smoke, I do think that "the truth" does need to shut up and die. Good write.
