Words of Love

Contributed by Merry on Friday, 19th September 2003 @ 01:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

A word is a gift, wrapped in a phrase
Tied with a heartstring or two
Teasing and easy or painful to take in
Meanings like prayers are experienced
Reading what you have written of me
Do you run your fingers through my hair?
Taste my lips before you write the kiss
My words to you are from my fingertips
Lightly run along your cheek, down your neck
The smell and taste of you – intoxicates
The words are gifts that fill the page

~merry~

One comment said 'simply put'. I doubt it. Exquisite, luscious - they seem odd descriptions for a living poet's feelings for another bloke, but I do love the intensity of the feeling and descriptors here (and I'll hide my awkwardness with a transference to the love of the living word espoused in this piece) -from heart to hand to eye to page, back to hand, to eye, to heart. Sigh.
