The Princess And The Rabbit

Topic: ChildrensPoetry

Upon the mighty Sycamore,
A fairy princess sits,
The twilight shines on silver wings,
As from the dew she sips,

A gentle breeze blows through her hair,
And she takes the urge to fly,
Round and round the Sycamore,
As the sun begins to rise,

Her fairy dust she carries in,
The pocket of her dress,
Used for granting wishes,
Or helping others in distress,

Then with her magic hearing,
She hears a distant cry,
And listens for the tell tale splash,
As tears fall from an eye,

Her fairy radar comes to life,
And soon she finds the source,
A little girl sits crying,
And she stops to help of course,

Alighting on the table top,
Unseen by adult eyes,
Tugging at the moistened sleeve,
Of the little girl that cries,

What troubles you she whispers,
Maybe I can help,
And if I can’t I’ve lots of friends,
Among the gnomes and elves,

The little girl looked puzzled,
And began to look around,
Salty teardrops falling,
As she searches for the sound,

Then suddenly she notices,
The fairy princess there,
Soaked from silver fairy shoe,
To golden fairy hair,

Oh dear, I beg your pardon,
The little girl exclaims,
Your fairy dress is ruined,
It will never be the same,

The fairy princess giggles,
It’s nothing we cant mend,
And with the sprinkling of some fairy dust,
Once more she’s dry again,

The reason I was crying,
Is because my rabbits dead,
She passed my away this morning,
And I loved her so she said,

The fairy thought a moment,
Then said I cannot lie,
It’s very, very, very sad,
When someone’s rabbit dies,

But rabbits have a heaven too,
I bet that’s where she’s gone,
Why I’d bet my wings and fairy dust,
Against my being wrong,

There’s not a lot that I can do,
And not much I can say,
Us fairy’s aren’t allowed to use,
Our magic in that way,

Of course if she was only sleeping,
Or didn’t feel too good,
Well in those circumstances,
It would be ok, I could,

Are you sure she’s not just sleeping,
The fairy looked at her and winked,
They do lay awfully still sometimes,
These rabbits don’t you think.

And really should be certain,
You know that is a must,
Oh look how clumsy of me,
I have spilt my fairy dust,

Well I suppose I should be going,
But why don’t you go and check,
See if she’s only sleeping,
In the way that I suspect,

But the rabbit wasn’t sleeping,
It was happily at play,
And the young girl didn’t notice,
The fairy princess fly away,

Back home to her sycamore,
To await another call,
For that’s what fairy’s do you know,
Look after one and all.
