The Thief at Night

Contributed by lovingangel4u on Wednesday, 10th September 2003 @ 05:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Her eyes open in the darkness of the night,
With every breath a notion creeps like a thief in flight.
Each thought burns on her mind, questions asked, prayers unanswered,
Imprints the anguish on her heart taking her rest, taking her peace,
Confusion, Loneliness and worry falling into that abyss.

From the depths of her soul stirs turmoil of old
A thick black fog moving with purpose
Eating away all her happiness.

Where are the dreams and anticipation of new things to come?
Seeing smiles of joy the freedom of life, the intention of soul.
They have been eaten up by the black fog of turmoil and sadness,
Twisting each fibre of good intent blanketing out all happiness of love.
She drowns in a sea of despair.

With each new sunrise she locks the doors of her soul,
Another day like a dream, automatic action takes control.
Set on normal ………nobody cares and nobody knows.

But that thief of reality comes back in the dead of the night
With the key that opens her soul letting out the turmoil of old,
Her stomach turns her mind twists again she is robbed of rest and sleep
The same questions without answers, worries without end,
Always drowning in the sea of despair
Forever plunging in the depths of that abyss.

Lovingangel4u I can really understand this poem, it's like I have been exactly where you are, and not just once either. Nobody cares because they don't know, but even if they did there is nothing they can do as you can't change the past, and I just hold on to the pain. It keeps you up at night and you just can't move on. This was absolutely a wonderfully written piece. Thank you for sharing this.
Emma.

This poem captures not only the feelings of the writer, but the emotion that is transmitted into the reader, it is quite impressive. Very nicely done, a beautiful work.

the way you captured emotion and the imagery is wonderful.
