I Am Never Ending Me

Contributed by hoping_to_be_me on Tuesday, 9th September 2003 @ 01:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I am from St. Landry Street
And the blue and white flowered comforter
That kept me warm
I am from the Raggedy-Ann years
And dressing up in Maw Maw’s jewelry
Then parading down the hall
I am from our old, Glastron boat
And finding animals in the clouds
The clouds that angels lived in
I am from chewy chocolate chip cookies at Leah’s house
And not knowing how to say “spaghetti”
It always came out “sketti”
I am from the oh-so-flattering nickname “Buga”
And leaving handprints on my little brother
It made sitting in the corner a habitual thing

I am from fighting, screaming, and yelling
From not being able to get my voice heard
And bottling up inside
I am from talking to strangers
But not talking at all
And listening to the voices inside my head
I am from insides aching
And too many faces
Telling me to control myself
I am from heaven and I am from hell
From asking questions
But never understanding
I am from words forming stanzas
From eyes with tears
And unspoken, broken dreams

I am from sharing my heart with the world.
I am from experience.
I am from strength to carry on.
I am never ending me.

Hoping To Be Me, what a great name! Its what I hope to be, too, instead of Bizzy! I think your poem is great. I can sure relate to most of your lines. Hoping to read alot more from you. Bizzy

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
