The Rape of our Planet

Contributed by norm on Monday, 8th September 2003 @ 03:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

This is my planet I want it kept clean
I'm saying this buddy, without being mean,
If you can't grasp what I'm saying to you
Get the hell off or live in a zoo.

I'm tired of reasons that only mean greed,
Political concessions that make our earth bleed,
That give to the rich at expense of the poor,
All the pols think, we are stupid, for sure.

And maybe we are, but they've gone to far,
The oil they seek the earth it does mar,
Think you, my ark is a joke and a lark,
Forget it, my friends, the facts are quite stark.

A shield to the earth is the ozone layer,
If none, the sun will sure burn your hair,
Will dry up you skin, will ruin the plants,
And you right well know so don't look askance.

I go no further, there are so many things
The pols try to fool us by pulling our strings,
When you go to the polls, before you decide,
Find out the truth; the contestants do hide!

Right on. People are so consumed with worrying about gas prices, war, and making money that we've totally forgot that own first priority on this Earth is to never harm our home. This is all we have. We simply can't pack up and move to another planet. But to the mass population all that matters to them is the concrete jungle. Placing super highways, skyscrapers, and gas stations on every street corners. Sorry rambling. Beautiful poem.

Well said!! Truly a shame how most only "see" with their pockets.
