Sometimes I feel so dark and deep-
like an ocean,
like it's hard to breathe
It's the emptiness closing in,
it's the emptiness of a nothing
like a hole, stretching downward
like the pain of heartache,
and of heartbreak
closing in, surrounding,
suffocating
like the absence of light,
I feel like... nothing
nothing, but the pure black

The blackness you describe I know all to well. Such a sad poem I hope you show this to your friend so he knows someone cares.
