Bottom Line

The music plays its tune
I listen to the beat
The melody interrupts
I see the story
How sad it must be
Being the bottom line
No one listening;
Everyone interrupting
Isn't that how life is
Everyone is a bottom line
Only those who pretend
Become the melody
They pretend to be different
When really in their hearts
They're the same
Longing for attention
And just like the melody of a song
They have to stay in time
Mistakes can't be afforded
It has to be perfect
Sure, they're now heard
They have their attention
But, really it's a waste
For no one can be perfect
