Through the years I have cared for you,
Lived my life for you,
Done all I can for you.
All I want is to give you a glimpse of pure satisfaction.
To see you truly smile,
For you to want to live your life.
I always thought I would never let you go,
That I would do anything for you,
Give you all I can and more.
But now I find I am tired and my energy is gone,
It’s hard enough just living my life,
There’s little left for you.
I would still try if I thought I could help,
Make some change,
Or anything at all.
But through the years I’ve tried and you’re not better,
You’re not even the same,
In fact you’re worse.
They say I can’t help until you want help,
Until you’ll accept it,
Until you don’t want to be depressed.
I think its because I can’t,
I’m useless,
Unable.
So I’m letting you go out on your own,
No help unless you ask,
Your life is now your own.

the fact that you tried in the first place speaks volumes about you. most people just hash out some tired line, "tough it out" or "it's not that bad" and think that they've actually done something. i admire the fact that you did everything you could to help her. but, as you said, in the end it is up to her. if she doesn't want help, then there is nothing you can do. this was an incredible piece.
