Graveyard of Lost Souls

Contributed by blackfire9786 on Friday, 5th September 2003 @ 08:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I slowly walk through these stones of gray
Counting my sorrows, through night and day
No light can touch my tender white skin
The clouds never lift, the fog never thins

I feel the arms of the buried corpses
Reaching, grabbing my feet and dress
I hear their mourns of sorrow, desperation
I do not look down when I feel their fingers’ caress

The silent screams of a graveyard never heard
by the close-minded, the weak-hearted
Forever following me down the bleary path I walk
Howls of silence from the desperate deceased and departed

I hear dead leaves crunch beneath my feet
Though I leave no mark where I trod.
I feel twigs scratch me, but I do not bleed
Nothing can stop me, save the unrelenting fog.

The grayness surrounds me, the fog engulfs me
The tears inside fill me, the silence deafens me
I cannot stop moving though I try so hard
I do not know where I’m walking or how far

There is no life in my world, no animals of any kind
There’s not a sound, save the silent dead’s cry

The trees of black reach out with their branches
Never may leaves or anything green grow
They tower over me as I walk down this path
Giving a dire roof to my deserted road.

Nevermore may my hair feel the soft breeze’s kiss
Nevermore shall the rain beat down on my face
The world’s simple pleasures, I so sorely miss
Lost in my burdened mind, I walk to some special place

And in my deserted, still, gray land
I follow this eternal road forevermore
Praying that this place will be worth it
.Yet you’ll see me every night in the same graveyard as before.

this is haunting and vivid each detail comes to life but sadness looms inside as well. Nice job on this piece for it stirs so many emotions.
