Cud

Contributed by Jason_Robert_Britt on Friday, 5th September 2003 @ 03:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Through civilization you become uncivilized;
You break your way through social chains.
A stampede of hungry cows;
Where are you when the grass is gone?
There is no greener side.
On fire, the sun will milk you dry.
Famine, disease, infliction.
Desire drove you mad!
Rabid, your eyes lost focus;
So slow to see the light!
Is this your happiness?
Your perfect world?
You've spit cud on yourself!
Now the ants will have their feast,
As the bees burrow beneath your skin,
To sting the heart of blindness from within.
Oh! the terror; imperiling the herd,
For your own self ambition,
The shame!
When there is nothing left,
Nothing but stinking carcasses,
The maggots will lay their eggs.
Evolution is so insane,
But prophecy must be fullfilled.

Excellent work. I like your lecturing tone.... the fools. I especially like the line about evolution. Great job.

Dear Jason Robert Britt, You have the ability to 'see', don't you? Although I don't enjoy reading dark, tragic, and sad poetry, there is that reality out there. I certainly don't like what I see in our society. If it were not for the few heroes and saints, the prospects would be too despairing to bear.
