Misery's Fist

Contributed by MoonlitAngel on Thursday, 4th September 2003 @ 04:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I make a wish on the stars above
That I can learn to give you what you need
But it's like I'm trapped within the grip
Of misery's fist
There's something crawling underneath my skin
Making me itch and it's crowding my head
I just can't think about anything else
But the piercing despair

It throbs and it pounds
And it pulses through my veins
I can't let it go
I can't win against this pain
It hits me so hard
It's so much more than I thought
It claws at my skin
But it somehow hits the spot

The hurt is constant and all-consuming
It swallowed me whole and now I'm drowning
If I could, I would be your saviour
But I don't know how
When I'm too lost to even find myself
And I'm too tired to fight you anymore
Maybe I should just stop trying for once
And give it all away

But it tastes so sweet
Every time your love breaks through
But I feel so weak
Trying to be strong for you
I put on my face
So as not to bring you down
And pretend to be
What you need and not break down

'Cause I never know
Which way you're gonna go
But it stays the same
And it whispers my name
Its seductive pout
Drowns out the words you shout
So I close my eyes
Surrended to the vise
