Bitterness of Dreamholidays

Contributed by Aika on Monday, 1st September 2003 @ 06:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I was born 30 years ago,
gave birth to two boys
have been married for 9 years
and decided to meet my net friends
as I have been at home for 5 years

I worked long nights and days
to earn few money for my holidays
to the country of my dreams
thought it would be

The flight was fine
for the very first time in my life
and at the airport in my dreamland
I fully enjoyed the bitterness of this world

The officers asked me many questions
why not - I replied
They asked me: "you left your children?"
I said:"just for a week - is it a crime?"

Then they took my passport and left
I had to wait
- for what????
Quickly typing sms
to my friends:
I am kept at immigrations
do not know why, what happened.

Very stressed
asked myself
the only thing:
did you want holidays like these???

In a while another lady came
checked my luggage, asked again
finally took my family pictures
and my poetry book
and led me away to some strange room
picture of me they took
(wondering I did not have to hold the number of criminal, or so...)
they distrained all my things
except a pack of cigarretes and money

No explanation, no reply to my question:
"What have I done???"
All they said was:
"You will soon be sent home"....

Shocked and lost
what does it mean my god???
I swear I had not expected
something like this could happen to me..
Perhaps I chose wrong country?
or I should lie somehow - I do not know it..
All I wanted was to have
lovely holidays
to meet my net friends
to see different history
to rest a lil from my family
and I will be sent home?????
Sitting in that strange place
smoking, crying, not able to understand
feeling like a criminal - althought innocent
I wished I have dreamt.
It was all reality - unfortunately.
There was one officer - older man
really kind, telling me:
"Please do not cry, it will not help thee".

All I had in my mind was:
Is this the dream holidays?

Then that lady came back,
asked one thousand questions again...
something like..
where are you children, who is with them?
how much money does your family earn?
I gave her all data she asked about my friend
all my story about dream holidays said
after four hours spent there
the lady came and said:
"Well, we called your friend
seems it is okay
you are staying with him
not planning to stay in my country
Now, take your property and go, you are free...
We wish you lovely times here..

Tell ya, I was not sure
what to do
wished both: to stay and also take plane
and go home.
Finally I decided so:
I will enjoy my dream holidays
full of hope, for me it works...

another scary case happened to me there..
but you are right.. that is another story....i will write..

Oh Aika, I'm so sorry to hear that. What a disappointment for you after working and saving for so long...and then to have this happen!
Your poem was excellent, Aika...inspite of the fact it was so sad for you.
They must have thought you were leaving your children and family behind. Much of that is taking place I suppose...but what bitter pill to have to take....
when all you wanted was a vacation to make
new friends in another land.
hugs
Connie

Hmmmmm.
Is there (going to be) a sequel?

Experience makes us all stronger Aika, and wiser too.
I'm sorry for what happened to you and I hope the next visit brings only smiles
xx
Steve
