Bunga raya cantik berseri
Segak dan segar mengembang
Di medan waktu pagi
Yang disegari semula embun
Ekoran daripada malam
Bunga raya megah berpucuk
Bagai batu delima bertatahkan zamrud
Berpancaran dengan sinaran berwarna:
Merah
Seperti jalur bertujuh yang tersulam
Dengan keputihan yang murni dan suci,
Pada Jalur Gemilang
Berkibaran di ruang angkasa
Jalur Harapan untuk semua
Merah
Seperti warna darah yang dipergadaikan
Wira-wira kita demi menebus balik
Martabat negara
Seperti darah yang mengalir
Dalam jantung yang deras berdegup
Dengan semangat seorangpendekar
Dan akhirnya gugur terkorban di medan bakti
Demi ibu pertiwi yang dicintai
Merah
Seperti nyalaan dan cahaya api-api
Yang bersemarak dalam hati para jaguh kita
Yang terus membakar sepanjang malam
Pelita dan penyuluh yang memerangi
Kegelapan yang hina dan maha durjana
Tapi terkelip-kelip buat sementara
Dan-kemudian terpadam
Dalam bayu yang bertiupan
Mengundang fajar kemerdekaan

Hi, it's no use posting your stuff in this language; it's caviar to the masses. Or rather, durian to these mat sallehs, if you prefer :o)
Here I'll post a translation for all to see so they won't trash up your works so often.
the poem is about the hibiscus - the national flower of Malaysia. The poem reads as follows:
The hibiscus is alive with beauty
Fresh and upright blooming
In the field of morningtide
Refreshed by the dew
From the night
Proudly sprouting
Like a ruby studded with emeralds
Shining with a plethora of colour:
Red
Like the 7 stripes embroidered
On the Jalur Gemilang (lit. "Stripes of Glory"; "Glorious Stripes" - this is the flag of Malaysia)
Flying (or flapping - as all flags do) in the sky
Bands of hope for all
Red
Like the blood staked
By our warriors to win back
The good savour of our country's name
Like blood, flowing
In hearts that ardently beat
With the spirit of a warrior
And finally fell in the line of duty
For the beloved motherland
Red
Like the sparks and flames
That burn in our heroes' hearts
Burning all night long
Lamps and torches that wage war
Against the hateful, evil darkness
But flickered briefly, for a while
And then-were extinguished
In the soft breeze blowing
that heralds the dawn of independence. |

I think its great that you post in your natural language, even though 'the masses' can't understand it (including me), at least it gives people from your own country the means by which to encourage publishing Malay poetry on here.
I thoroughly enjoyed the translation, thanks anonymous, and thanks Qohinoor.
Very enjoyable and informative. |
