Betraying Tears

Do these tears matter,
Or are they betrayals of my soul?
Coming from my eyes they are salty,
And appear as black as coal.
I weep for the one I cannot have,
Even though I know as a friend she cares.
An angel she is unto me,
For whenever I need her she is there.
But I can never tell her about my feelings,
There's no way she'd ever understand.
I hope these drops tell her nothing more,
Than that beside her I wish to stand.
