The Sunset of Loneliness

Contributed by bobotheclown on Thursday, 28th August 2003 @ 11:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I never thought I'd feel this way
I've crashed and burned again
Failed, to meet my own standards
Unable to meet the world's piercing glare
My eyes leaden with a thousand unshed tears

I'm drinking in the sunset of loneliness
And longing to feel that that sharpened metal caress
The emptiness I feel can never be erased
Emptier I become each and every aching hour
I'm lifting my arms to heaven as the tears flow freely,
But no respite comes and the aching remains

Weeping in the darkest of nights
Hiding my frown's long shadow
I welcome the night's embrace
For no one can see my pain
I'm crying in the shadow's someone please save me!

I lock all the pain inside
Stuff it in the deepest recesses,
But still the pain in my eyes... it still shines through
Its so hard to stay alive
The depression... its choking me
I have to go now and try to breathe

Ah Joel, This is so sad but so beautifully written. I can identify with this, cuz I've been told the same thing many times....and my next poem will tell it all...
I will send you a private message soon..
Jenni

This poem I relate to it so well. Around people put on a show and laugh it off, at night no one is around and let it out, you don't want any one to see you like this, but you wish someone would come in and save you. Why are we like this? But this poem is so true and is an awesome write. Emma.
