ArrivalDeparture

A glorious beat is carefully hidden behind a beat.
Strings of angelic music don't compare to the sleet.
That is pounding down mercilessly on your windowpane.
A hoarse whisper gently rolls off your scorned tongue in vain.

Your hand creeps up to the glass to feel, to barely touch,
The coldness that you would truly, and dearly miss too much.
You are frightened that you will turn to a block of frozen ice.
Quickly change your walk into a run I need some advice.

Please talk to me about how to simply move forward,
And never forget, and have to move backwards.
Grasp me tight while we run to the glorious light.
Your eyes gaze at mine as we are in persue of flight.

It's as if I must yell and question what took you so long.
A small smile, made me not question and just go along.
This pleasant scenario seems too familiar to be a mystery.
The shadow protecting us from the past, the fallen debris.

Violins seem to start to play and guide us on the path.
Temporarily hiding us from one thing, God's own wrath.
Turning my head to steal another glance from you,
Only to be returned with a ghost that I can see through.

Glaring at the once soft, caressing fingers of your hand.
The touch of your fine silk hair has now turned to sand.
A grin escapes my lips as I begin to now comprehend.
This is a past wound, with no intentions to ever mend.

As if the repeat button has been glued down to replay,
Those that death took, those who I dare not ever say.
Living the fact of myself letting go of you is unbearable.
Might as well cut my head and put it down on your table.

For that is what it feels to reopen that well-hidden gash.
Reminders of your past, that strangle yourself with a sash.
Another head hangs low enough to show your own failure.
Left to listen as they weep, and recite a prayer to that savior.

Soaking up the rain and mud, with a drop of a friend's coffin.
Distributing gifts to practically your own family, baked muffins.
It's always hard to match gifts with grief, they never mix well.
Closing time begins, as everyone departs, you are left to dwell.

Transfixed with the mixture of love, hate, and left with no faith.
Loving the motility water prick the places where you are scathed.
They left you with a fear of forever remaining lone with no love.
Having to live without any of you until, if I, reach the place above.

In my head I have to deal with images and memories of bliss.
That have been in my mind since the day you were dismissed.
Letting go is not an option at this point, neither is losing you.
Rather live a life of insanity, than to ever forget what I once knew.
