sleepless thoughts

Why do we dwell on the past - Though we know it won't change
Why do we try so hard - But make the same mistakes
Why are there questions - That still have no answers
Is it just life - Or another hard lesson

Why am I still watching and waiting - I know no one's there - I feel the pain growing - But I no longer care
If there's no help - If it's all used up - Then I guess it's just me as I break through this hell

I can appreciate the darkness of this poem - I'm an insomniac and often sit up at night wrapped up in my gloomy thoughts.
why do we dwell on the past? good question.
