Slept on a bed of nettles,
Content to stay.
Afraid of the streets
On a perfect day.
Black withered rose, one red
Thorns engraved as petals swayed
Whilst four chambers and horizon bled.
Clasping water coloured ice
Slippery, sharp, yet silk
Is the tone of her many expressions
Heeding the cries for a mothers milk.
My mother lived a life, anything but bland...
Holding many decades of female hands
Built on foundations of shifting lands.
