Almost Gone

Contributed by fattyt on Friday, 22nd August 2003 @ 07:45:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

I remember back to the day last fall
When you almost ended it all
Your journal said "goodbye everyone"
I knew right away what you had done
I waited for days to hear a word
I asked all your friends what they had heard

Three days of my life spent last fall
Wondering did you end it all?
What caused you to want to die
Was it the hurt caused with a lie?
Was it the way you treated Dave?
It almost took you to the grave

Almost one year later I want you to know
There's a change in you that really does show
I remember how you used to be
Always sad, depressed, and never free
But now in God you believe
There is no reason for us to grieve

For anyone who feels this way
Just know that there'll be a better day
Please think of the people you'll leave behind
Think of what they'll have to find
Even now as your life goes on
I think back to the day when you were almost gone

I really like this poem it bears a message many of need to hear every so often. It's sad in it's reflection, yet hopeful. Truly beautiful.

Well thank you for the kind words, this is the first poem I've written in like 4 years, so for you to say that is really awesome. I hope this somehow helps people realize how hard it can be to almost lose someone you love.
