Out Of Tragedy Beauty Does Rise

Contributed by DrogedaRain on Friday, 22nd August 2003 @ 02:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Out of tragedy beauty does rise,
Like morning mist rising from the calm waters of an otherwise lonesome, latent pond
Look here inside of me, for there is where, you will see
How my past has haunted and tortured me
These fears I have will they ever go away
Can I ever feel happiness, or am I to perdure in agonizing pain

Through my hearts words, may I find true solace!

Out of tragedy beauty does rise,
Like the unbroken spirit or innocence of a precious newborn child
How you hurt me and caused such pain my childhood life would never to be the same
You touched me in ways that no one ever should and distorted my entire lively hood
Years I have struggled in gruesome silence while I slowly became self destructive, infuriated and violent

Wondering why?

Eagerly awaiting that day when all the pain and fears could melt away
Well, the answers you see they finally came
Like the loud crash of thunder just before a fresh rain
You made me trust and believe in you,
You were the one so sick and perverse with all of your portrayals of love, kindness and worth
Things I now know were neither truths nor innocent games
I was merely a child that had yet to see, it was you and alone and not ever me
It has become so clear you see, as clear as the child that died in me, the one torn from my soul and spirit and heart
You murdered her without malice or thought with your demented sickness and hate
She flew on dove's wings before you came
With a perfect glide and no signs of pain
She has her own children now you see
One she protects and listens to carefully.

Out of tragedy, beauty does rise
Thank you my God for keeping me alive!

This is a well expressed poem on such a very difficult topic and you have done it skillfully. Your use of imagery is superb...I have never been an abused child but reading your poem made me feel that pain that it must cause to its victims for such a long time. Yet the last lines: Out of tragedy, beauty does rise
Thank you my God for keeping me alive...they really brin ghome the feelin gof this poem...I thoroughly enjoyed this write, absolutely fantastic, left me with a tear....Krystal:)

OMG!! This is an excellent write on such a terrible tragedy... I loved everything about it.. the use of metaphors, the flow....wow... this has got to be the best poem I've read today!!!

Thanks for sharing this great advice. I am sorry for your pain...but happy that you are able to write about it....
Hugs
Jenni
