Sometimes when you look at me
I feel sorry for you
Realizing your past and your pain
What it must have been like for you
So young and so afraid
Then you lash out at me
And so quickly it fades
Sometimes when you look at me
So wide eyed and scared
In such an infantile state
I feel the sympathy consume me
I want to make it right
That which has always been wrong
Then I feel your angry hand upon me
And so quickly it fades
Sometimes when you look at me
So wild eyed and mad
I know exactly what it was like for you
So young and so afraid
I cower down before you
Frozen from the fear
Then I feel your loving hand upon me
And so quickly it fades
Sometimes when you look at me
With loving child eyes
My heart fills with hope
Anticipation of new tomorrows
This road looks familiar though
I’ve been down it many times
Then I remember what I have always known
The circle is eternal, stronger than us all

Very nicely done. It is a vicious cycle.
A fine write. |
