After Hours

Contributed by jaeann on Thursday, 21st August 2003 @ 09:25:00 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Trapped in yesterday
hold out for tomorrow
energy is limited
sanity is borrowed.

Walk the boulevard
run through the park
ignore evil's voice
a new path to embark.

Spin the tin lizzie
light up where you stand
miss your dancing cue
watch who grabs your hand.

Look out for Market St.
just past the bridge
pay the parking fee
what a past to dredge.

Screams under the overpass
train rushes by
rape on the park bench
never ask why.

A lesson somehow hidden here
no worries left in San Jose
some simple trial by fire
with morals three thousand away.

Where did the path veer off so wrong
took a second ... then some years
a look, a smile.... then a chill
later came the fear.

The drama surpassed a movie script
he reveled in the feed
curse the soul who conquered walls
and laid his broken seed.

If the wind be ever so silent
and I haven't any tears
his voice can pierce the darkness
and elicit all my fears.

In that instant he has won
the charms he did forsake
sillent swifted anger
for all that he did take.

Oh jaenn this is wonderful, exiquisite, powerful, emotive, so many words and feelings this poem made me feel. I am completely and utterly numb at the moment. This is superb jaenn and a very exceptionally talented write. Thank you for this...Krystal:)

Few words, simplicity is beauty, action and the word for the whole poem is SUPERB!
Wonderful poem Jayme, from the heart of one so wounded, and yet so courageous in all you do! I really admire you!
