This is our last goodbye
I hate to feel the love between us die
But it's over
Just hear this and then i'll go
You gave me more to live for
More than you'll ever know
This is our last embrace
Must I dream and always see your face
Why can't we overcome this wall
Well, maybe it's just because i didn't know you at all
Kiss me, please kiss me
But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation
You know it makes me so angry 'cause i know that in time
I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye
Did you say 'no, this can't happen to me,'
And did you rush to the phone to call
Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind
Saying maybe you didn't know him at all
You didn't know him at all, oh, you didn't know
Well, the bells out in the church tower chime
Burning clues into this heart of mine
Thinking so hard on her soft eyes and the memories
Offer signs that it's over... it's over

I know what you mean... forever 27... I'm 26 and I'm not sure if I'll even get to 27. When you hit that age, you start to realize that everything is lies, it's hard to go on. And the poem... you did well to show the emptiness of loving someone who you don't feel you can trust with your secrets.
Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind
Saying maybe you didn't know him at all
You didn't know him at all, oh, you didn't know
That is an important line... because I think that anyone who has ever given up, and taken thier own life, probably was never known by those who loved them. We all hold secrets... dark sides of our perfect little lives... the trick is to let those secrets out to the one person you really love and know you can trust... then the paranioa stops eating you away. And those who give in think it's everyone's fault but thier own, but they were the ones who didn't ask for help. Anyways, enough babbling on about suicide(Kurt Cobain reference) to those who are our fallen heros... bless you for all you have contributed. sorry if I posted too long here... Great poem, it really made me think and want to reply. Keep it up. |
