A wee leprechaun,
Standing by the sea,
Jumping up and down,
Looking very angrily.
I walked up to him,
And said what be the matter,
Wee leprechaun fella,
And what he replied made my heart shatter.
Oh I've been tricked,
Out of me pot a gold,
Darn that McCarthy clan,
They were tricky and bold.
They had three wishes,
For releasing me from the bottle,
A time capsule it had been,
For two hundred years you see.
I knew if they got that last wish,
Without asking for me gold,
I'd have to give it to them,
Or be trapped in the bottle yet again.
So I tried to get them to be greedy,
After the last wish the made,
Told them that they seemed very needy,
And another wish they should have,
But they were far too clever for me,
They knew the way it went,
So they said no thanks three wishes is enough,
We know the way leprechauns work,
And with that I had no choice but to wave me magic,
And release me pot of gold.
That poor wee leprechaun,
Without his pot of gold there'd be no magic,
For him to behold, being so little he needed it,
To protect himself from evil folks and other little folk,
So I did bend down and whispered in his ear,
Off he took in a flash,
Then all of a sudden he was back,
Oh thank thee said the wee leprechaun,
I didn't even think to look at the end of the rainbow,
Now I have a new pot of gold,
But best of all me magic has returned,
And as he touched his nose,
He disappeared into the colours of the rainbow,
And left me there holding a magic rose.
