Tribute

Contributed by bhav on Tuesday, 12th August 2003 @ 01:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Patriotic

I have played and grown up in your lap,
With your help my potential has been tapped.
Your diversity is unexplainable,
Where in the world will you find such rich cuisine on one table?
There are the ones, who leave you for the brighter shores,
They promise they will come back and betray by never coming back to your shores.

Politicians who use you for their ups and downs govern you.
There is a feeling of warmth and belonging,
Where else in the world would you find such religious bonding?
There have been threats to conquer you,
But always you have vanquished all your enemies who tried to conquer you.
Some people remember you only on the 15th of August and 26th of January,
But for some you are there in every breath they take.

If ever I could repay back to you what you have given to me in terms of culture, religion and unique identity,
You have given me the identity of been known and called as an Indian.
A debt, which I can never repay,
With heart felt pride and genuine love for you Mother India,
I promise to the last breath of mine this debt I shall repay.
