The King is Here!

Contributed by wachumiri on Monday, 11th August 2003 @ 08:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

Once in Israel at night
Some shepherds watched their sheep
They were given such a fright
An angel they did see!

He told them not to fret or fear
He said it was all right
He told them that God’s child was here
To save us with His might

Then suddenly the light appeared
Of many angels shining
Their joyous voices joined in cheer
God’s glories they did sing

The angels said they’d find the King
Sleeping in a manger
So the shepherds, they went searching
Looking for this heavenly stranger

And so they found Him in the straw
His mother at His side
At sight the shepherds bowed in awe
While Mary beamed with pride

And so the shepherds left rejoicing
Telling all the news
That they had seen the newborn King
Will YOU accept God’s truth?
