Green the grass growing, waving, whispering
In the wind over wide plain blowing
Strong the stones standing, taunting, towering
On the hills afar and high
Fair the flag flowing, waving, whispering
In the wind over wide hall blowing
Strong the stone standing, taunting, towering
On a hill alone and high
Here a bold warrior standing
Hair of red and loose blowing
Like a flame flashing, flickering
In the night a light gleaming
Steel the sword shining, clashing, conquering
In his hand ever foe lessening
Brave the blood beating, coursing, kindling
In his heart unfearing hot
Dread no deed doing, filling, finishing
In the land ever gage essaying
Brave the blood beating, coursing, kindling
In his heart all-daring hot
Not a man stronger than he
No man hardier than him
Like a great dragon, fiery
Or of men like ten standing

Very nice! In the thrid stanza, the alliteration mathced perfectly- it is as if yoou can hear the sword go swoosh and crash and clang. Very nice imagery, also. |

Crash... clang... OW!!! that HURTS. No decent human would do that to a sword...
Yea, cousin, I really like the alliteration on this one. One of the best, i would say.
Take care.

If I could close my eyes and listen to the way this flows... it's spectacular, Andrew. I love it.

(arrives a year or so later than she would have wished)
I've decided to go poking about the older writes of my favorite poetry... thinking, surely, you would have been churning fine rhymes well before my arrival! You have proven my theory correct here! Oh, I do like this!
I love the pace and the flow of this. Oh! I wish I could hear you read it. I just KNOW it's be a thousand times better coming directly from you.
Carried off to a distant land by this one,
SNM

I see a tall Scottish warrior in a kilt with his sword raised going into battle...singing this with his thick scottish accent.
.Fair the flag flowing, waving, whispering
In the wind over wide hall blowing
Strong the stone standing, taunting, towering
On a hill alone and high
well done
