Up In The Attic

Up In The Attic

Up in the attic, I’m sitting on a rug,
Looking at pictures that give my heart a tug.
Years have passed since I last took the time,
To explore these memories that linger in my mind.
These precious pictures, many yellowed with years,
How they brought back laughter and a few tears.
There’s a picture of a little boy sitting on his daddy’s knee,
I could hardly believe that little boy was me.
With a big old smile, and the reddish of hair,
A typical kid without a care.
I treasure my childhood and the time with my dad,
As these pictures took me back to all the fun that we had.
From birth to college, there were pictures for every year,
Oh how I wish I could go back to when my father was here.

Jeff this is absolutely lovely, brought a little tear to my eye...we so much need to cherish the times that we have today, yet we need to cherish the memories just as much because today doesnt last forever...I really enjoyed this excellent work. Krystal:)

Memories are so special and can touch your heart. I know how you feel as I have memories that I hold dear. Please write more poems like this one. I enjoyed it very much.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
