Separate Ways

Contributed by ronald on Saturday, 9th August 2003 @ 04:25:00 PM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

Our quest may run,
In different streams of rivers,
Given the separate ways,
Right before us,
Where the calling lies ahead,
To make alive our own dreams,
To reach the stars above the sky,
To fly away and breathe in the air,
That satisfies the soul so much;
And chances remains,
We part…

It hurts in the heart,
It grieves the spirit,
To see goodbyes set in,
When the bond between us,
Holds us as best friends,
But circumstance may remain,
That our roads may not meet,
As frequent as we want…

But whatever it is,
We will keep in touch,
And the lights of friendship,
Will ever glow,
Though we may be,
Worlds apart,
Oceans away…

And come what may,
My love for you will never fade,
Though we will travel,
Our separate ways…

And for forever and always,
I love you all...

Aww... this really relates to my life right now, me being the one that's leaving to pursue my greatest dream, so I truly appreciate this poem. It's the saddest part of leaving, knowing you're putting miles and maybe even ocean (a little bit of ocean, in my case) in the way of that bond. Makes you a little nervous. Goodbyes suck, but you have to follow your dreams. Excellent poem, I truly enjoyed it.

Yes, it's very sad when our friends leave - or vice versa. Very nicely expressed, it's touching and meaningful. You are truly master of the word, and I can give you no higher compliment :)

Later.

It always happens.

Old alliances oft break down after a while, espeically old friendships from childhood.
Still Ronald, rather than bemoan the loss of a friend, it's better to come to terms and understand that when they decide to leave, it is for the best of our benefit that we let them do so. It's their life. You've had a few good laughs and some fun, so don't be so glum, chum. I'm much worse off. I rarely return home, due to my job and I'm always travelling overseas all the time on behalf of the corporation I work for.

I understand how you feel and agree that we should hold fast to the memories of friends who have moved on we do not know if we shall see them again.
