On the ground lies a crumpled leaf
it's life had been so very brief
just a few short months ago
from a tiny bud it started to grow
announcing to nature the advent of spring
a canopy of green for birds to sing
By the summertime the leaf is mature
The coming weeks would be it's demure
The autumn winds blow fierce and cold
The leaf now yellow tired and old
Finally it flutters to the grass
Accepting its fate all things must pass
But for every second of every day
It danced in the wind happy and gay
