Sparkle, Sparkle, Majestic Mars!
Brighter still than all the stars!
Come closer, so we can see....
Your illustrious, dazzling sublimity!
August 27, at 5:15 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
This billiant red marble to our eye,
makes her "Midnight Run," as she skirts
thoughout our Southern Sky!
Only 34.65 million miles from earth.
Pinkish red lady comes to spy!
Preparing for her "Close-Up" ever so high....
Oh, Red Queen in our hemisphere.
It's been six thousands years
since you've ventured this near!
Come one, Come all, even lover's postpone.
Email, knock on doors, and even phone!
Does anyone realize, nor appreciate.....
This spectacular Historical Event?
Witness a marvelous miracle, heaven sent!
The last time she came so near.....
Venturing without fear.
'Twas Sept 12, 57617 B.C.
Our ancestors needed telescopes,
34.62 million miles to see!
Venus de Milo could shine so bright.
But alas, she will not be visible to our eye!
Standing by, but hidden behind the sun.
As this lovely, comely lady
executes her "Midnight Run!"
What an Ominous Opportunity for us all to see!
Queen Mars and her Warring King,
have always been our neighbor.
Fascinating guests they'll be.
Let's all greet them when they appear,
Showing Earth's generous hospitality!
Then perhaps they will return another time.
They'll not pass this way again,
until the year 2278!
Don't miss welcoming them.
Before it's too late!
