Just The Same

Contributed by juliette on Wednesday, 6th August 2003 @ 06:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

It hurts that I can’t bring you into my view
All the things I never knew
Eat me from the inside out
My life is overcome with doubts
The way you lived, your legacy to me
And I can never crawl from beneath your shame
But I love you just the same.
A vision of you, I see you in the mirror
It doesn’t make yesterday any clearer
Yet it keeps me bonding with you
Years after you have come and gone
I wish I could tell you how this feels
Explain that I needed you to make me real
You could have drowned out the pain
But I love you just the same.
I have longed for you everyday of my life
I became a mother and somebody’s wife
You were never by my side to cheer me on
But somehow you still carried me along
One single distant memory,
This is all you gave to me.
Only for the way you cried my name
I always loved you just the same.

I've noticed in your poetry that you always seem to pour out so much of yourself in your writing. I find it captivating from the first word to the final phrase.
