Come November

Contributed by Jim_Cundiff on Monday, 4th August 2003 @ 10:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Tributes

Not a day passes by
without me looking down
to see your name tattooed on my arm,
bringing a smile to my face
and the memory of something
we said or did
or a dry tear somewhere
deep inside my heart and soul.

But Come November,
a tidal flood of memories and often tears
overwhelm my everyday as it really sets in…
the fact that you’re gone,
that I won’t see you the next time I come home
nor will there be more parties in our honor

Come November,
I realize, that its one more
Thanksgiving with an empty place
at your mom and dads table.

Come November,
I realize you’ve been gone another year
November number seven this year
Seven years you’ve been gone my friend,
So long for a piece of my heart to be torn away

Come November
You’re with me more everyday,
In the thoughts of deeds we never got to complete
So many words left unsaid, thoughts of what if…
so many what ifs since you’ve been gone, my friend
You’re gone, but in my heart you will live
Each day of my life, never forgotten.
