I just stopped -by

Contributed by crow on Monday, 4th August 2003 @ 07:45:00 AM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

I stopped-by to read and write poetry, no one ever told me it was a debate.

At any age, I`ll quote; "How vain it is to sit down to write, when you have never stood up to live. "Henry David Thoreau"

Poetry I hoped would pieces from life, beauty in the world.

Good and bad, sad and silly, what YOU have lived. Not rage and hate from the daily news.

In poetry what does education often do? it makes a straight-cut ditch of a free meandering brook. As I quote Thoreau once more.

You dare tell me what you think I`am? because I love my country? I can see evil, corruption.

Come stand in front of me, place your hands on my wounds, show me yours. Tell me what we would have traded.

Wanting humility in my life, I have never taken the largest portion, I have never let anyone take what I have

I`ll bow-out now, and bid you well.
