the unending death of the cyber-christ

Contributed by Cancer on Monday, 4th August 2003 @ 01:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

new walls go up
guarded by men of metal
it hurts inside
but only for awhile
then comes the numb
that's what the "survivors" said
but they died soon after
so they weren't really survivors

mankind fell so fast
trampled 'neath the feet of their creations
cyborg overlords
meticulously deleting existence

inside the brain
hangs cyber-christ
soldered onto a crucifix of monitors
displaying televangelists
Hinn, Swaggart, and the like
the earl infiltrators
his gaze rose to meet mine
his eyes hummed as they extended
from sunken recesses
they were surveillance cameras
his hair was a tangled mass of power cords
his beard, a barcode
his teeth, keys from an obsolete keyboard

Judas the Hacker knelt in the corner
typing frantically
trying to delete his betrayal
the sick green glow of a monitor
painting his face with Death

as mechani-christ's side oozed a thick black sludge
his computer generated voice
resonated weakly off the walls of the stronghold
"heaven is a speedy modem
hell is a data devouring virus
and god
god is the final, undecipherable password"
and as his ragged breath grew shallow
i asked,
"who is in charge?"
he laughed weakly
his camera eyes, rising to meet mine
"no one
it will never be decided
just a constant battle
man against machine
man wrote the program of my plight
the machines have just upgraded the software
i die again, each time the file is opened
this is my fate, repetitive death
the program for eternal life has been deleted
all that is left, is to wait for the machines to win
and enslave the scattered remnants of humanity..."
he was about to say more
but then, the soft humming from his body ceased
and the holographic form of his body glitched
he re-appeared and said
"heaven is a speedy modem
hell is a..."
i turned and left him to die again

back outside, the thought Nazis patrolled
their emotionless eyes scanned the horizon
searching for "meat-bags" to shackle
their mainframe linked minds process my presence
as they approach, i place my pistol into my mouth
and put a bullet-size error into the program of my existence

INTERESTING the imagery is mind boggling and this is very well written. For someone who is so anti-Christian u seem to have a very good grip with our beliefs I guess. Don't know what else to say.

thank you all for your comments. yes joel, i do have a decent grasp of the belief system of christianity. i was raised a southern baptist and some scars just never heal. even if you get an S.O.S. pad and some Ajax, and you scrub really hard, then set it on fire, then you get a cheese grater and.....
oh, sorry, i've been a bit frantic lately. forgive me.

Woohoo......this is cool stuff, but me and my friends agree, you've been watching one too many reruns of "The Matrix". So sorry, but true.
