I saw the reflection of my thoughts
in the mirror of my streaming words
as I reached out for the black pearl of wisdom
sticking from the mouth of the big bad oyster
alas it fell out, sinking into the deep waters.
I dove headfirst, breathless, my ears ringing
my burning eyes searching for a color long lost
a light-dark that sees itself through my eyes
as I lock on it, vaguely aware of what it is
that makes me behold its' reflected unreflection,
an indication of my hidden shadows of dread
my own bleak yet bold wonder of the web.
I grab the pearl as it holds me in its self grasp
all my struggles are futile, I've been had
pulled into the black deep ocean, half dead
holding on to the pearl of wisdom, too bad
sinking into oblivion isn't funny, just sad.
