You're Still Here

Contributed by Lia on Thursday, 31st July 2003 @ 04:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

I let my mind drift today
To that place where the sun pushes the shade
Where the smell of lilacs meets the rain
And the dust devils hide away

I closed my eyes and listened
To the birds that sang to the wind
To bumble bees meeting fireflies
And to water flowing by

I let my body roam and feel things
Like the grass atop the soil
Like thorny roses with satin leaves
And the breeze upon my face

My heart sat still and paid attention
To tears that meet with laughter
To singing children with dirty faces
And to a life that wasn't passed by

I let my soul be yours today
For you to spend a moment
For you to see that though you're gone
You're still with me everyday

I give to you my laughter
I give to you my joy
I offer you this peaceful moment
A small portion of my life

I share with you my feelings
That are spent with you each day
And though you've been in heaven
You'll see they've been there all along

I let the tears flow freely
They fall like glistening drops
They rest upon huge smiles
For I know you're never really gone

So take today, this moment
Feel the peace and love
Take this time to notice
What your memory has given

See that each and everyday
I keep you close inside
And when the smile brightens my face
It's only partly mine...

This is a special poem, special words to celebrate your rememberance of an obviously special person. She is lucky to now live forever in your heart.
Thanks for sharing.

Nothing's changed..... You still managed to paint a picture with all the colors that verbal skills have to offer. I love the contrasts you draw like, tears on smiles and singing children with dirty faces. When you write like this it always makes me feel as though I'm there with you, looking through your eyes and feeling what you feel. Good job, I'm sure your sister could appreciate it.
