Slipping into the warm waters
Of your voice is too easy for me.
I try to swim in your melodies,
You just wade in the music
Waiting for me to catch up.
I skip through my notes
With finger dips & rolls,
On my tip toes I stroll
Trying not to upset the water.
You just laugh, look back at me
And shake your curly brown hair
Like you knew what was coming
Next. The ivory under my fingers
Goes perfectly with the ebony
Of your lips, your somber salutations
Embracing my bellow’s breath.
It’s too easy for me, you see,
To feel you from the inside & breathe
The simple sounds that fly
From my keys. Let’s breathe
Together & unlock the symphony
Under the surface of our music.
You keep swimming Lady &
I’ll just follow behind you
Trying not to drown.

To a very special jazz-blues singer
from a piano player.
I love Billy Holiday, I'm touched
she's both the water and the swimmer,
nice poem, cheers. |

I forgot i love the film "Lady Sings The Blues" Diana Ross portrays the life of Billie Holiday. I love Billie but i find it very hard to listen to her songsand her voice. Theres that silent pain i can feel and it haunts me. |
