Only Seventeen

Contributed by Krazykaric on Tuesday, 29th July 2003 @ 03:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Sometimes I wonder,
What my life is all about,
Why I was born?
Why I’m still alive.

Is there a purpose for my birth?
Will I do something great with my years?
Or will I just waste away,
Using up what I could have become.

I think its something,
No one knows until,
Life is over,
Until we know it all.

When life is explained,
And we all realize,
Wow- what have I done-
Look what I lost.

Everyone has thought these words,
You have all been here,
Where I am
Lost, sad and alone…

I think this way,
When things are bad,
Especially when I’m down,
Depressed and mad.

I shouldn’t feel this way,
I’m only seventeen,
I should be happy,
And carefree.

But it’s just not the way,
I’m stuck in this rut,
With him gone,
I’m alone to stay.

He hurt me once,
He hurt me twice,
Why do these arguments happen?
What’s the meaning of it all?

Why does he make me feel so small?
Alone, unattractive to them all.
Is there something wrong with me?
Or is it him that has the problem?

Should I just let him go?
Run after like I always do?
Nothing changes,
He’s still the same.

I tell him how I feel,
He ignores me and goes to sleep,
Or worst of all-
He leaves.

He can’t face me,
Or us.
He always makes a big fuss,
And blames it all on me.

But I’m not the only one,
Who disappoints him,
Or does things wrong,
I’m only human.

Only seventeen…

You have no idea how much this poem, starting with the line "Why do these arguments happen?" and ending with "I’m only human", is like my relationship with my boyfriend sometimes. We fight all the time and he always puts the blame on me, leaving me to wonder if he's right or if it's him who has the problem. Coz I've never fought with a boyfriend before, but he's fought with pretty much every girl he's dated. Yet he insists it's because of the way I am. Kinda suspicious, huh? Oh well, whatcha gonna do when he refuses to admit he could be wrong? I hate men. Great poem, I was shocked at how much I can relate.

Nice write. Sounds like you need to lose the guy from all the poems he is in (if it's the same guy). I liked the end of this poem a lot.

This sounds like me (I'm 17 to). I can relate to this a lot the feeling alone and depressed. Let me say something if yer boyfriend is hurting you... whether it be physically, sexually, or emotionally (especially the first two) then you should leave me. No one is worth getting hurt and everyone deserves better. This was a great poem and very honest and I hope you find your happiness soon. PM me if u want.
