I Just Want To Be Pretty

Contributed by lostforgood on Saturday, 26th July 2003 @ 08:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Everyday is the same routine
When I wake I look in the mirror
And cry my shameful tears
This person staring back at me
Who is she?
I wish I could look like everyone else
Beautiful, thin, radiant in every way
But all I see is me
Ugly, fat, boring me
When I go through the day
I compare myself to everyone that passes me
'Wish I had hair like that'
'Wow, she has such gorgeous facial features'
'I wish I could be as thin as her, and wear things like that'
Why must I think things like this?
Why can't I just accept myself
Why can't I just be pretty?
I wish I could look in the mirror one day
And smile at what is there
I hope that one day
Mirrors won't shatter when my ugly self passes by
Maybe some day people will want me
Or maybe even want to be me
I don't want to be a supermodel
I don't want to be a celebrity
I just want to be pretty to me

nice poem hon...

we all want to be something that we are not. Even trying to work toward that goal, we get lost along the way.
It hurts. It always hurts. And sometimes you wonder whenever is the pain going to go away.
It seems as if you are the only one.. And sometimes you are...

some of the most beautiful women I know..are not beauty queens but average in looks at best..but it is what lies in their hearts that radiates and makes them look better than super models or movie stars..that kind of beauty can not be matched and will shine through so strong people will look at you and say I wish I was as beautiful as her.

you are beautiful in the eyes and hearts of the people who love you -
it's tough to go through these feelings of inadequacy - but remember that real beauty in inside of you - it's not about how thin you are of what kind of cheekboens or hair you have - it's who you are inside that gives the world true beauty
