Close To The Cliff

Contributed by Dr_Calm on Friday, 25th July 2003 @ 07:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Pain stretches my spirit,
And rejection pushes me near a cliff.
I have always returned, but now the elastic is worn and tired.
I am scared of the cliff, yet it comforts me.
For the fear is in the fall
Not in the landing.
How do I balance what would be lost,
With what might be gained?
Is there gain in the loss?
Is there loss in the gain?
There is no breaking; time has dulled the pain.
Time has eroded passion and caring.
You can’t be close, when arms are folded,
Other arms are open, waiting and wondering.
I don’t want to fall! Rescue me!
Pull me back; return me to where I was happy.
My mind is weary, tired and unclear,
And my soul feels dark and lost.
I want what I had, and to be where I was.

Im sure so many readers will relete to this. You have touched on an expressed the very mixed emotions and fears of a failing love.I am so very happy you found your way back into the safety of her arms.
Very powerful.

Dr_Calm,
I'm so glad things have calmed down for you and you found your way back! I was one of the ones that had no other choice but to jump. But I didn't fall! I was able to get away in one piece. Your words were so eloquent. I really enjoyed reading your poem. Dr. Calm, infact, all of your poems.
