The Tree

Tree
Will you speak to me?
You have a knowledge I see,
For how long you will exist
No one will know,
But something made you
So that you may grow,
Yet in the wintertime you lose your leaves
And in the spring they return even more beautifully,
You do exactly what you’re created for
Tell me how I may do the same,
Make the same score..
///
So I sit my rump
Next to its stump
Ready for its speech
Or some explanation for me,
And I wait,
And I wait,
I have to leave,
And come back the next day,
And I wait,
And I wait,
This last for weeks,
Then finally the tree speaks to me..
///
Little one
So it says,
You want to know the things of the unsaid,
Why do you wait at my stump?
Do you really think I shall give the answer you want?
You are a piece of mankind
You are but a young bud,
A little runt..
///
Oh thank the goodness that is,
You can answer the question that I’m tangled with
For I walk about
And within the depths of me
There is something amiss
And I don’t know what it could be,
Would you tell me,
Old great tree?..
///
Young one,
The tree did speak,
Are you sure you want me to speak this great truth you ask of me?
It looks as if that’s a yes I see,
Well there was a great man whom said you must be born again
It’s what you have to do to live fully true,
Here is how I did it, I’ll explain it to you, you’ll see,
I came from another,
And fell upon this ground
Made my way with the rain into where I’m found,
I was doing great,
At least as far as I did think,
But I merely was a nut
Crazy you see,
Then I lost myself
And split wide open
And what do you know
I started growing
Into what it is
That you see this day
But if I didn’t loose myself
I’d still be a nut,
Not knowing it,
Useless
But for the creatures to eat me away,
So I have revealed the answer to your question,
Did I make it clear to you?
Are you still in a guessing?..
///
No old wise tree
I do believe I see
Until I let go and loose myself
I’ll remain a nut
Crazy,
And when I finally let me go
Is when I actually start to grow,
Be reborn if you will,
As the wisest of man said,
He was the follower of the only one who needed not to be lead..
There is only one thing that remains to be said,
Am I in the fresh ground?
Or am I found on a stone?
For if I loose myself
If I’m not on fresh ground
I’ll only become comatose..
The tree with a loud laugh I must say
Said this that day,
Now what would it matter
If you became that way
You wouldn’t know it if it were to happen any way,
The best thing to do
Is to do as you have been requested
For obviously it is of you
Just think about it,
Think about whom you’re talking to,
You’re a nut
Just waiting to split
Because
You’re talking to me
What you call
The tree…

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
